Making fresh local produce accessible at affordable prices. Growers sell direct to the customer so the price paid, even for organic produce can be lower than from the supermarket.
A reduction of “food miles” and packaging – food bought from supermarkets travels an average 1000 miles from the producer to the store and is encased in plastic and cardboard. Food from the Rochester Farmers Market has travelled limited mileage and needs little packaging.
Customers have a wide range of fresh local produce available including some specialised items.

Producers have a regular monthly outlet for their goods throughout the year.

Meet local producers – ask them about how their food is produced

Taste before you buy – try the unusual varieties on offer

Learn more about Local Agenda 21 and sustainable food production – reduce the miles your food has travelled
